Daniel Wentz is the man!

Postby darklord42 » Tue Mar 13, 2012 5:25 pm

I was browsing the FS2O website and Daniel Wentz himself came out of the blue and remixed a few tracks of his original music for the freespace games to what the would sound like now in the modern day.

In that mix of new FS music, he already did a remix of the D2 main menu theme

Ah yeah. I was going to post it here but I never got around to it. He told me I was free to spread the word through PM over there.

I did post it at planetdescent.net and descentbb.net though.

It's great stuff!

I LOVE his redux of the Freespace title! Oh man, if I could make this the title screen song for D2X-XL, I would be one happy pilot.

I listened to some songs on Dan's soundclod (thanks to the post at Planetdescent) and yeap, the D2 title remix is great!

Indeed, what a shame that we can't download the song. :P

I can't tell if you guys are being sarcastic and making fun of me, and there's actually a download option that I am completely missing... Or if you're serious :clue: Oh well. Dan seems to be releasing more music every couple days. I'm looking forward to the rest of his songs!

lol, No, No, No, it's for real, we're not mocking you.
We're serious.

In fact there's NO download option and that's why we all are acting like this: :wallbash:
As we also would like to download the song to put it on our Playlist.

Aww, you got my hopes up he remixed the redbook theme, not the MIDI one :( Still, at least I can stand listening to this version of it.

Or just pull out Audacity and hit "record".

with audacity, you still have to patch the audio out into the audio in, some windows drivers let you do this, but with OSX you have to download Soundflower or something. Still he put up the files in that manner for a reason. I think if he wants people to be able to download it, he would make it so they could. As a composer, and sound designer, to rip it would be rather disrespectful. I'm sure he will release to the community if/when he wants to.

Don't be so quick to conclude that. I wouldn't consider it disrespectful.
If I upload some of my music to soundcloud (or MySpace or anywhere else) without a download link; and someone manages to find a way to get it anyway; I say they've earned it and they deserve to have it for their cleverness -- even if it means losing a bit of money (when there's money involved). The fact that I'm getting money at all obviously means that a lot of people aren't so creative.
