Hey folks!Do you all remember Sol Contingency, that promising Unreal 3 recreation of Descent that Interplay shut down? Well it turns out that Interplay failed to kill it and now (as a brand new IP) it's about to release its initial closed beta, soon to be followed by an open beta and full release later this month. The current iteration is a fully functional multiplayer game that will be released for free in order to promote an upcoming Kickstarter campaign with the aim to create a larger singleplayer game and expanded multiplayer in Unreal 4.
They have a new gameplay trailer up on their website and it looks really sweet!

Complicated stuff happened involving IP distancing among other things.

Re: Remember Sol Contingency?
I'm only guessing here but I think the IP distancing Fox mentioned happened after the end of August. I got a chance to see the game in August and between then and now two weapons have been completely reworked...
In any case after playing SolC for a few days I love it. It's not perfect but it's one of the most fun multiplayer experiences I've ever had.

Yeah, Yoshi's on the right track. Cuz as it turned out we needed to do a bit more -- also getting the Eclipse into its current state took most of the time between then and mid-October.
I think it was worth it though...
